In 2006. Allison Tandy did a survey of the knowledge of Fairtrade in Jersey, asking a sample of people at  several local supermarkets.   It was part of her course at Highlands College.

Here are some of her findings

Need for brand name and taste are ahead of ethics in deciding to purchase.

Lower recognition of logo, but 76% understand its meaning

The Big Swap in King Street

During Fairtrade Fortnight 2010, a stall was set up outside M &S, King St to encourage passers-by to agree to change at least one of their regular brands for a Fairtrade brands.  A particualr focus was on tea, with a large tea mug as a visual aid.

Fairtrade chocolate (kindly supplied bythe Co-op) was available to tempt people to stop.  Over 100  pledges were obtained in Jersey, over 1 million in the UK during the Fortnight.
