Go Bananas - March 2009
The challenge was to get a world record for the number of Fairtrade bananas eaten in 24 hours, from noon on Friday March 6th to noon on Saturday 7th.
Bananas were kindly supplied by the Co-op and by Checkers. About 20 schools arranged a variety of events, including an assembly at St Clements School. Several States Departments took up the challenge and nearly 1000 were eaten by passers-by outside M&S on the Saturday morning. Over 4800 were eaten in Jersey to be part of the national total of nearly 500,000. Jersey did ‘Go Bananas’ and raised over £1450 too.
