Vernon Henn, one of the wine-makers from Thandi visited Dunells in March 2010 to speak to their staff and customers.  They are now keen to promote Thandi.

It’s a unique concept that lies at the heart of one of South Africa’s most significant transformation stories.

Established in Elgin in 1995, Thandi’s aim is to empower previously disadvantaged farming communities. With support and mentorship from leading players in the fruit and wine industries, these communities export top-class produce to countries all over the world.

Their love and passion has quickly given Thandi a reputation for exceptional quality and the project is now being applied to wine and fruit farms in other provinces around South Africa.

Thandi’s methods have been so successful that the project is being studied by US and Russian observers. Our vision of land transformation and community development may be redefining traditional notions of empowerment, but it is the people who are making it a brand of international renown.
