Highlights of Fairtrade Fortnight

On Mon/Tues Feb. 27th/28th, we have a visit from Jacqui Mackay of Banana Link. There is a public meeting at 7 pm on Mon 27th Feb at St Pauls Centre, where Jacqui will speak on the heading  Make Fruit Fair.   She will expose the truth about the banana trade.  There will also be tastings of wine and chocolate and Fairtrade goods for sale.  She will  speak in several sschools and meet the media.

On Tuesday Feb 28th, from 1130 to 1400 there will be a display at the entrance to Cyril Le Marquand House with tasting of tea and coffee and excouragement for Ststes offices to adopt Fairtrade.

On Friday 2nd March from 0930 to 1430 Fairtrade will feature at St Lawrence Community Market.

On Saturday 3rd March there will be a stall outside M&S from 1000 to 1500 with a chance to taste M&S Fairtrade chocolate and to pledge a further step in support of Fairtrade.   There will be a 'Town Trail' for people to find a range of Fairtrade products round the town

From 1500 there will be a display of school projects on Fairtrade in the Old Magistrates Court, Seale St, with prizes prsented at 1600.

On Sunday. March 4th at 1030 there will be a Fairtrade service at St Martin's Methodist Church

 

From Monday 5th March to Friday March 9th "Morning Thought"on Radio Jersey will have a Fairtrade theme

A highlight of the second week of Fairtrade Fortnight will be a Fairtrade dinner at the Pomme d'Or on Wed. March 7th at 1930.    The speaker will be Barbara Crowther, Policy and Communications Director of the Fairtrade Foundation.   Tickets for this high pprofile dinner and speaker are £18, available from Ed Le Quesne, 730131.

Barbara will have lunch with some members of the Chamber of Commerce and speak in schools and on the media.
